Materials: plaster, painted cotton cloth, clay, pigment, wood, fiber thread, raw cotton.
Through this series ob objects my interest lays in how remnants from my painting process create geological-like layers. Fossils are nature’s archives, physical records of transformation. By digitally cutting these objects out from my studio and isolating them against white space, they exist both as material things and as images. Like this they become documents of themselves and evidence of their own transformation. Removed from their physical context, they float between the real and the virtual. Like fossils, they are both endings and beginnings, proof that something existed and continues to exist, differently.
